There are two research activities including Validation of tools developed by University College Dublin and Development of the open-source digital forensic laboratory automation framework (DFLAF)
Activity 5 – Validation of tools developed by University College Dublin
This activity has two goals: on the one hand, it will provide support to another member of the 2Centre network, further improving the results of another E.C. funded project. On the other hand, the validation of UCD tools by Spanish L.E.A. will improve cooperation and mutual understanding among L.E.A across Europe.
Deliverables – Documents attesting the functional correctness of the tested tools.
It is also possible to have suggestions of potential improvements on the tools.
Activity 6 – Development of the open-source digital forensic laboratory automation framework (DFLAF)
L.E. Agencies need tools to support their work with the objective, among others, of making that work more efficient. Even if there exist some tools able to support digital forensic work, the toolkit proposed in this project satisfy three important requirements: it will be free for the Guardia Civil and Cuerpo Nacional de Policia, as well as for any L.E. Agency that ask it through the 2Centre network or establish collaboration agreements with the Spanish Excellence Centre; it will customized accordingly to the needs expressed by the own L.E. Agents; and its functional behaviour will be assessed by academic experts, providing guaranties of correctness of the results obtained by the investigator.
Deliverables – A set of tools supporting law enforcement investigations in cases where digital evidence is involved.
